WHO'S WHO IN SFLOI???

***NOTE: This post will keep resurfacing to the top once a week; this way we can get everyone on it at one point or another.

Since SFLOI rosters seem to constantly rotate, I thought it would be great if we had a sort of meet and greet here on the blog. This way players old and new can get to know each other a little bit better. Here's my info as an example:

Name:
Sal Cipriano
Age: 34
From: Brooklyn, NY
SFLOI Info: Joined SFLOI in the Fall of '08 through Ian Parfrey; I play RF and 2B mostly, but love 1B most.
Occupation: Comic Book Letterer for DC Comics; Writer of various facts and fiction.
Your Teams: Yankees, US Soccer National Team; have followed the Giants, Jets, and Rangers in the past; will be a fan of the Brooklyn Nets when they arrive ;)
Other Info: I love movies, cooking, fantasy baseball, reading, graphic design, and throwing good parties amongst other things. I'm a rabid foodie who likes going to new restaurants and cooking new dishes. Besides SFLOI, I play softball for the DC Bullets in the New York Media League as the starting catcher. I designed the Bullets logo as well as the SFLOI one.

That about covers it. Now just copy my info, paste it into a comment, and replace it with your own!

Name: Bill Vernick
Age: Incredibly Old
From: NY, NY
SFLOI Info: Joined SFLOI in Summer 1993 after being introduced by Paul Geoghan (green sweatpants, purple polo shirt - I'm sure you know who I'm talking about). I play 1B and OF and 2B when we are short players and I beg.
Your Teams: Mets, Jets, Giants
Other Info: Enjoy writing, reading and watching movies. Similar back problems to Ian L, aka "E", but try to keep playing. A lifetime ago, I had 300 AtBats a season and got a fair number of hits etc. Goal: keep playing as long as humanly possible and even inhumanly possible.

Occupation: Trader. Financial Markets Strategist.

Name : Bill McLaughlin
Age: 25
Born: Huntington, NY
Lives: Brooklyn Heights
Related to softball: I got brought in by Ian Parfrey in July 2009. He's my cousin. When I played baseball in school I always felt like I didn't fit in with the other players because I was too strange. SFLOI seems to have a pretty high average level of strange, which I really appreciate.
My Teams: I grew up rooting for the Mets. But I have kind of stopped feeling like whoever gets paid to play there really represents me. I think you could say I have some love/hate issues with professional sports in general.
Other: I work as an electronics and software engineer doing projects for the TV industry. I play in the band Heywood (also with Ian), and I read a lot of books, mostly fiction. My current read is Helen DeWitt's Last Samurai, which I should pitch as basically the most amazing thing ever.

Seung Lee said...

Name: Seung Lee

Age: 395.5 months

From: Manhattan

SFLOI Info: I heard about SFLOI from Larry Savell's website in '05.
I play C, but am equally happy at 2nd or 1st. Sometimes it looks like I can play OF, but I actually have really really REALLY bad depth perception.

The contributions I am most proud of are: 1) '05 ROY, 2)The high stress / low stress game against Havelock and 3) bringing Ian Parfrey to his first SFLOI game. . . nuff said :).

Occupation: Career elementary school science teacher, with only about 25 more years to go!
Dad. Fantasy baseball freak.

Teams: The Mets and the Dodgers (Brooklyn). Will root for the Yankees if I'm at Yankee stadium and/or if I have nothing better to do.

With every other sport, I would much rather be participating than spectating.

Other: Enjoyed Sci-Fi, MMORPGs and almost any other nerdy pursuit you can imagine, back when I had the time for them (pre 2008). Was one of three subjects of a documentary about teachers of FIRST Lego League (Robotics). 'Formerly Proud' Owner of Mycroft 'Myc-y' Lee's brick at CitiField.
