Best Pitcher "The Havelock"

MVP "The Bill Weinberg"
Sam Melendez, who led the league in hits (165), runs (105), triples (11), batting average (.575), and on-base percentage.

At the winter meeting, it was determined that:
1. Season dues remain at $40, payable to Gil Schmerler
2. The league will take up a collection for the family of Adam Garcia. This can also be given to Gil Schmerler. Exact specifics are still being worked out.
3. We resolved that a catcher's mask must be available at all games.
4. We proposed several rules for speeding up games at Heckscher, on a trial basis. Recommendations include a 2-warmup pitch limit, infield and outfield warmups permitted only in the 1st inning, and Havelock being relieved of any duties as a batting practice pitcher so he can concentrate on making up teams.
5. We resolved to codify a simple set of rules for situations where teams must lend a fielder to their opponent and/or provide pinch runners for their own players. In short, the able-bodied players who have batted most recently will be supplied. If fielders, runners, and umpires must be supplied at the same time, the batting team can arrange the players to their best advantage, while adhering to using those who have batted most recently.
6. It was proposed by Tony Connor and seconded by many that the league should attempt to play with more civility and fewer arguments, and players should keep in mind that the game was intended to be softball "for the love of it."

Looking forward to an excellent 2016 season,
Ian

Adam Garcia

Adam Garcia, who appeared in 98 games with us since 2008, was tragically killed yesterday. Adam was a fine left handed hitter and a guy we could count on to help us get our sometimes lightly-attended winter games off the ground, and he should have had many more years on this earth.

The wake will be Thursday January 7 at the Ortiz funeral home, 4425 Broadway, 4:00pm to 9:00pm.
